How to Plitvice?
Even though Plitvice is one of the most popular National Parks in this parts of Europe there still are a lot of unknown facts and many tourists come to us with wide number of questions mostly begining with: “How to..” This is why we wrote top 5 most common questions about Plitvice.
1. HOW TO GET TO PLITVICE FROM SPLIT?
National Park has three entrances and they are open from mid-April to the end of October. You can go by car, van or bus. Bus station is located on Split waterfront (next to the ferry port).
Pros and cons going by bus:
Pros: Bus to Plitvice goes every few hours. Tours without guide allow you to explore and stay how ever long you want.
Cons: When going back from Plitvice most tourists get lost while trying to find the bus station. Also the park covers very large area (300 square kilometers), getting into the woods without proper guidance can get weird sometimes..
The easiest way to go to Plitvice is with our air conditioned bus that departs each day from May to the end of October. Bus departs at 07:30 from Riva. Guide will be waiting for you in the Park and looking after you so you get the most from the Park and still get back to Split safely..
2. HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE TRIP?
Our transport includes licenced English speaking guide, air conditioned bus, tourist insurance, Vat, panoramic train and electric boat ride. On the way back to Split you will have some free time for lunch. So you see, preparation ( if you are going with our team) isn’t really necessary 🙂
In case you are going on your own bring: The map of Plitvice, watch, fully charged cellphone, compass (real or install an app on your phone), warm jacket, umbrella, printed bus schedule, watch, comfortable shoes.
3. HOW LONG TO STAY IN PLITVICE?
The protected area covers almost 300 square kilometers, but some of the most beautiful hiking trails only take a few hours to navigate. Our licensed guide has deep knowledge and understanding of the park and will show you the best trails on your trip.
4. HOW CAN I KNOW IF PLITVICE REALLY ARE WORTH MAKING A TRIP TO?
If you like nature at its most pure, clean, brightest – the answer you’ll love it! Spending a day walking through the marshes and rivulets, breathing in the water infused air and simply enjoying life, that is the true wonder of this amazing place.

5. HOW TO PREPARE MY OUTFIT FOR PLITVICE?
- Comfortable shoes (sneakers)
- Snacks, water sunscreen
- In case you are going during the winter / spring / autmn season we recommend bringing a warm sweater or a jacket and (if and when cloudy) collapsible umbrella or raincoat – just to be sure.
